We’re adding a quickie here because we ran into this last week, and it had a few bumps in the road…and there’s an absolute lack of helpful documentation out there. Maybe Morgan will even do a youtube one day. Those are really helpful!
- Connect a serial or USB to serial from laptop/pc to serial connector 9600,8,None,None, 1 (emulation is VT100)
- The username is sysadmin, the password is the serial number (on a flag that pulls out of the top of the case cover in the back.
- Type setup config
- Configure one of the many ports for the address you want to use, leave all other ports disabled (you can enable them later with the manager).
- Use a web browser to go to the manager ( http://ipaddress )
- Congrats, you can build out from here.
ALWAYS make sure you’re enabling the correct port so that you can web access the data domain. This is the image that I use because the manual doesn’t exactly correlate to the port name!
Some possible scenarios:
You need to reconfigure one that has already been configured
- Setup same as above, but you’ll have to eliminate the existing file system, do this with the command filesys destroy , this destroys the filesystem and any replications, etc…These can’t be easily deleted otherwise, because it wants to see all of the old relationships to remove them correctly….but if you’re rebuilding/reconfiguring one, you don’t need the hassle.
- Now using the gui manager, you can create a new filesystem.
